February inchies - Purple

here are the purple inchies I got from the Hannah Grey inchies swap. It is a yearly swap. Each month come with a color. we send 16, we get 16. I have organised them in an handmade book. My march (green) inchies have been sent a long time ago. As my holidays are coming SOON (if my bosses do not take them away from me!) I have to make some inchies this week-end for April, May and June to be on the safe side. Will do that later tonight.

Febinchies_001web

I have started a new piece. The base is a simple wood frame. I still have no idea how it is going to turn out though... hmm... got to think about it.

Better go now as we are going out for dinner...

Hmmm... two posts in one day.. am I improving or just feeling guilty because I cannot post during the week?

The Reader

The-Readerweb

This is my latest piece. It is made on 30x30 cm canvas (more or less 12x12 inches)

The background was made following the technique I learned taking Paulette Insall Class (She is offering more dates - RUN! NOW!)

Then The image is a transfer I made using bronze acrylic paint. I also used some fabric, golden flakes, music sheet, crackle paint.

Bye for now! (got to work and to create!)

Back in Office

I enjoyed that long week-end - Five days when I forced myself not to think about work. Ok, I checked my work e-mails a couple of times but that was ok. I did not work. Though I must admit that I thought about work. Even if I rested during those five days, this morning I feel so tired. My body aches. I feel an headache coming and mentally I feel exhausted again. Guess I need real holidays. They are coming.... slowly

This morning I brought my painting, Freedom, in my office. It brings me some peace there.

I have interrupted my work just to write this short post but I'd better go back to work now!

Zou!

Booo

I have just set up the blog of my boyfriend (just a few days ago) and he has more visits than me! booooo!!

Ok, so today I wanted to do many things... Not everything on my list was accomplished but I did quite a few things. We went for food and ice-cream shopping which was our most important task of the day.

I made some art. One piece is almost finished. Yeepee!!

We used my new Zorki for a film test and it looks like it is working well. So happy. This one has a funny look: dark wood body with golden pieces for everything that is supposed to be in metal. So cool!

Below is a picture I took with my 6x6, a Mamiya C220, a few months back.

Enjoy!

Gizmo

I like that word, so my "bidules" will be my gizmos (if a plural can be!).

Ben managed to have two days off in a row (amen!) and we were supposed to go camping near Lengai. Unfortunately the rainy season has started and the weather was awful. It rained all night and this morning and we only had some shy sun this afternoon around 4 p.m. We decided to say home.

Bad for this missed opportunity. I miss taking pictures. Though no problem being home as we have lots of things to do. While Ben is sorting is picture and swearing every now and then, I play with my gizmos, i.e. I make altered art. I played a bit with my pictures two and finished my homework for Shosh...

I have to finish a few projects tomorrow: a few things I have to post, some pictures to work on so I can post them here and there, select some new pix for imagekind, make my april inchies.

Ok, better go now as it is time for bed!

Free Collage sheets

Thanks to Lisa at Ten Two studios for her March Collage sheets!

I will make good use of those goodies!!

(more on my acrylic paint transfer experiments later!)

Zanzibar Door Shrine

As I said yesterday, I have been busy playing with my supplies, or as others call them my "bidules" (an english translation will come when i can put an hand on a disctionnary).

This morning shopping was short: butcher-deli closed and i went to buy some food for the dog and show Muffin to my vet. On the way back, Muffin was wide awake and wanted to see the road. Ok, maybe not as she is almost blind.

Ben is flying all day today so i have the house for myself. Going to put some of MY music and continue create and finish my homework for Hannah grey (more on this later).

If you have not see Claudine Hellmuth's tutorial on her blog (posted 19 March 2008), run and see it! It is a demo of image transfer using airondack paint dabber. I do not have metal airondack paint here but she said it was ok with non metal paint so I am trying. I have some matalic paint from other brands and I will try! Right now I have one transfer on its way with some Cool peri - I am waiting for it too dry... more later about this experiment.

So, yesterday I played and here it what I done:

Hgdt11web I played with acrylic paint to make this wood looking door.

So I started with a blank Die-cut Fancy Door Shrine. Then I used fluid acrylic paint: black paint, Nickel azo gold, Raw umber. The last two are amazing coler are Golden products and are fantastic to use. You can have so many effects using them. Both colors are available there. On top I used a layer of Black asphalt glaze also for Golden paint.

The doorway is made of a transfert of one of my one photos.

At the bottom I used some german gold scrap paper mesh and at the top a mini asian coin.

Hgdt12web

I used some more raw umber paint for the inside of the door. The backgound sky is made of another of my picture and the little ange reading is taken from a QDD collage sheet.

Being a Hannah Grey Design Team member is so much fun! Hee hee

Thank you for looking!

Freedom

My first painting - ok, with some collage - so let's call it my first mixed-media painting:

LOOOOOOONNG WEEK-END

Finally! some time to rest. I am exhausted and this long week-end is very welcomed. I did not take any work with me. Ok I did but I am not planning to do anything!

Already one day had passed... It is going to be like that for each of the days I have off?

Still.. I went for grocery shopping today... (do not like it!) - DONE.

I finished my painting. I will scan it and put a picture later. I so like it. So happy with the class and with what I learned!

Then I finished some ATCs I had started last week. Here they are:
