This is a new mixed-media piece on a 30x30 cm (around 12”x12”) canvas: acrylic paint, paper, fabric, ribbons, paper, paper, oil paint.

It will be in my shop as soon as the internet connection let me list it.

Stone Town Wall I

 

This is my latest mixed-media creation on canvas (40x40 cm – almost 16”x16”). It has a lot of texture, representing a wall from a Stone Town (Zanzibar) street.The transfer is made from one of my photographs. This photographs represents the detail from a traditional wooden carved door.

It will soon be for sale in my shop.

I cannot live without…. Liquitex Matte Medium

 

When i first started collage, I had heard a lot about Golden products which I use and like but I could not find any in my art shop back in France. I tried Liquitex and I am very happy I found this matte Medium as it is very reliable and very easy to use. The bottle is very Handy and it dries neither too fast or too slowly.

Every Monday I will make a short post on items I cannot live without. It may be art products, photography products or anything else. See you next Monday for another item I cannot live without!

getting there slowly

Another crazy week with no real time for myself which means no time for blogging, working on personal projects or making art.

I have a new piece in progress. It is on a 40x40 cm canvas. It has many layers of paint and has a nice texture. I hope to finish it this week-end. It is almost finished but i do not feel like it is complete yet so patience until I find all I need to add in order to complete this new piece.

I am almost back to normal with the laptop. a couple of programs are still missing but I am almost back to normal.

Friday I received my copy of Don’t write: a reluctant journal.

I have just started to write a few lines on Friday. The idea behind this project is interesting and I hope it can give me back the envy, the need of writing. Let’s see… Maybe the same thing that happened to Jen will happen to me.

Have you seen Kelly Rae Roberts’ new studio? It is so nice and it has so much light coming in. Having direct light coming into the house is not something very common here, in Tanzania. Houses are built in such a way that the interior of houses are dark. It is really a shame especially when we have power cuts. In the Office/Studio, we usually have the light on. It is an horrible neon light on the ceiling but we have no choice. A few months back we changed the set up of the furniture and installed a table by the window so I can enjoy some natural light when I am making art.

This week I have made a huge book order to Amazon. Eleven books! All art related books! The first ones should arrive in Arusha a the beginning of February. Cannot wait to get them.

Catching up with life.... at least trying to

I am trying to catch up with life.... So much work at the office. I still have not gotten time to sort out the photos for our week-end in Kitumbeine and Tarangire National Park. I am at the begining of Day Three out of four.

On the art side, I have not had so much time to play with my art supplies. Though i have just received a Dick Blick order and it feels like christmas!! I just love that Dick Blick delivers to Tanzania!!! I have dicovered new supplies and I am so in love with them!!! I will speak about those in another post.

We have been moving furniture around in the house and I now have a painting/crafting table by the window in the office/studio. It is more convenient than crafting on my small lovely desk and it is far better when i am playing during power cuts. I am currently working on a portrait.... as it is not finished I will not share it yet.

Altered box

Those little treasure boxes are made locally. I bought quite a few already and I do alter them. Here is one with a vintage look.
